The Project Director, Dr. John Pernetta, and the Regional Expert, Dr. Vo Si Tuan, were recently awarded by the People’s Committee of Viet Nam’s Kien Giang Province "for technical support and co-ordination in executing the demonstration site for Coral Reef and Seagrass in Phu Quoc". The award ceremony was featured in the Kien Giang Provincial News.

Dr. Vo Si Tuan was originally the National Technical Focal Point for the South China Sea Project in Viet Nam, before joining the Project Co-ordinating Unit in 2005 where he served as Senior Expert for 3 years. Dr. Tuan returned to Viet Nam’s Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang in February 2008.
